Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) President, Ms Pamela Bennett says the May housing figures released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) show no sign yet of an expected bounce from the May interest rate cuts.
Housing finance figures for May 2012 show, in trend terms, that the number of finance commitments has declined by 0.5%. This is the fifth consecutive month of decreases.
