Clarence White from Menck White Auctioneers in New South Wales has been crowned as Australasia’s top auctioneer at the AUSTROS 2022 championships held in Sydney this week.
Mr White battled it out with four other finalists at the event convened by the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) and Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) and hosted by the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales.
The fab five included the Mr White and runner up, Robert Tulp from Apollo Auctions in New Zealand along with Luke Banitsiotis, Stuart Ritchie and Conor Patton, of which all provided high-energy techniques for the enthusiastic, high-profile industry attendees.
Mr White is a four-time winner of the Real Estate Institute of NSW Award for Excellence in Auctioneering (2014, 2017, 2018, 2020) and spent six years calling auctions across two highly regarded networks before establishing his own independent auction business in 2018,.
REIA President, Mr Hayden Groves congratulated the winner adding that it was a highly spirited and eagerly anticipated event.
Mr Groves said the event attracted representatives from every Australian State and Territory and together with New Zealand’s top auctioneers, brought together high-profile names to compete for one of the industry’s most coveted awards.
A total of 14 auctioneers across the two countries made it to the competition.
Mr Groves said he was also pleased that in a historic first the AUSTROS judging panel included for the first time four female judges. The judging panel was chaired by Chief Judge Jesse Davidson.
The competition was held at Randwick Racecourse from 17 to 18 October 2022.
